Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
